People of the Bible

Who Was Deborah?

In short

Deborah was a prophetess and the only woman to serve as a judge of Israel, a wise and courageous leader whom the people came to for God's counsel.

When the moment came, she summoned Israel's army to battle and led them to victory, then sang a triumphant song of praise to God.

“And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.”
