The Gospel

The Gospel, explained simply

“Gospel” means good news. Here is the good news at the heart of the Christian faith, in plain words.

God made you and loves you

You are not an accident. God made you on purpose and loves you deeply. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son” (John 3:16).

We are separated from God by sin

All of us have turned from God and gone our own way. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). That separation is the deepest problem of the human heart.

Jesus died and rose to bring us back

Out of love, Jesus took our place. He died on the cross for our sins and rose again, defeating death. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). His resurrection is God’s promise that the offer is real.

New life is a free gift, received by faith

You cannot earn it; you can only receive it. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). Turn to Jesus, trust Him, and you are forgiven and made new.
