Bible verse

Matthew 6:14

Matthew 6:14

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:”

Matthew 6:14 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Jesus ties our willingness to forgive to the forgiveness we have received. When we release those who have hurt us, we live out the very mercy God has shown us. Holding grudges chains us to old wounds, but letting go sets the heart free. This is hard, sometimes the hardest thing we do. Yet Jesus does not ask it from a distance; He forgave those who nailed Him to the cross. In His strength we extend the same grace, becoming channels of the mercy that first rescued us.
