Bible verse

Ephesians 2:8

Ephesians 2:8

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”

Ephesians 2:8 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Here is the gospel in miniature. You are saved by grace, God's unearned favor, received through simple faith. And even that faith is not a work you produce to impress Him. The whole thing is a gift. This is the end of anxious striving and the death of boasting. We come with empty hands and receive everything in Christ, who paid what we never could. Rest here. Your standing with God rests on His gift, not your performance.
