“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
What it means
Our minds become what we feed them. Paul hands us a wise diet, whatever is true and honorable and pure and lovely, dwell there. In a world eager to fill our thoughts with fear and outrage, this is a discipline of attention. It is not denial but choosing the good on purpose. Above all, these things find their fullness in Christ Himself, who is true and pure and lovely. Fix your thoughts on Him, and His peace begins to guard your heart.
