Broken bread and a cup glowing in warm sacred light.

Bible verse

Isaiah 55:8

Isaiah 55:8

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.”

Isaiah 55:8 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

When life refuses to make sense, this verse gently reminds us that we are not looking at the whole picture. God's thinking runs higher and wider than ours, and His timing rarely matches our own. That gap can feel frustrating, but it is actually good news: a God we could fully predict would be no bigger than we are. In Christ we learn that His higher ways bent all the way down to a manger and a cross, so His mystery is never cold. We can trust the mind we cannot map.
