Broken bread and a cup glowing in warm sacred light.

Bible verse

Luke 6:38

Luke 6:38

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

Luke 6:38 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Jesus describes a generous life as one where open hands receive open blessing. When we give freely, with mercy and without keeping score, we discover that God is no one's debtor. This is not a formula for getting rich but a picture of the abundant heart of the Father, who pours out grace beyond measure. As we mirror His generosity, we find ourselves living in the flow of His kindness. Christ gave everything for us, and in following Him we learn that a giving life is a full life.
