Broken bread and a cup glowing in warm sacred light.

Bible verse

John 3:17

John 3:17

“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

John 3:17 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Jesus makes His purpose clear: He came not to condemn the world but to rescue it. Many imagine God as eager to punish, arms crossed and waiting to catch us failing. Yet the Father sent His Son on a mission of salvation, not condemnation. Jesus steps into our brokenness to heal, not to shame. This is unimaginably good news for anyone weighed down by guilt. The cross is proof that God's heart toward us is mercy, and everyone who trusts in Him finds welcome instead of judgment.
