Acts 16:31

“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

Acts 16:31 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

A frightened jailer asks how to be saved, and the answer is stunningly simple: believe on the Lord Jesus. Salvation is not earned by good behavior, religious effort, or a spotless past. It rests on trusting the One who died and rose for sinners. That same night his whole household heard the good news and believed. This is the heart of the gospel: put your confidence in Christ, and you are saved. What you could never accomplish, He freely gives to everyone who trusts Him.
