Bible verse

Acts 1:8

Acts 1:8

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Acts 1:8 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Before ascending, Jesus promises His followers power from the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses everywhere, from home to the ends of the earth. We are not sent out to represent Him in our own strength but filled and empowered by His Spirit. This is the courage behind every faithful life, the same Spirit who emboldened frightened disciples living in us now. Whatever our fears, the promise stands. We simply tell what we have seen of Jesus, and He supplies the power to carry His name into the world.
