Bible verse

John 16:24

John 16:24

“Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”

John 16:24 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Jesus invites us to bring our requests to the Father in His name, promising a joy that becomes full. Prayer is not meant to be a heavy duty but a source of overflowing gladness as we discover the Father delights to answer. Our asking connects us to Him, and receiving His good gifts fills the heart. This joy does not depend on easy circumstances; it flows from relationship with a God who hears. Through Jesus we have access to the Father, and in that nearness our joy is made complete.
