Bible verse

1 Peter 5:6

1 Peter 5:6

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:”

1 Peter 5:6 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Humility means trusting God's timing when we would rather rush ahead or grab control. This verse invites us to lower ourselves under His strong and caring hand, sure that He will lift us up at the right moment. We do not have to promote or defend ourselves; we can rest in a Father who sees and honors what is done in quiet faith. Jesus humbled Himself all the way to the cross, and God raised Him high. Follow that path, wait on the Lord, and He will surely raise you too.
