Bible verse

1 Peter 4:8

1 Peter 4:8

“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.”

1 Peter 4:8 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Above every other effort, Peter tells us to keep loving one another deeply. Love does not ignore wrong, but it chooses to cover and forgive rather than expose and hold grudges. This is the very love Jesus poured out for us, absorbing our failures at the cross instead of counting them against us. When we love like that, we look most like Him. So be patient with one another's rough edges, quick to forgive, slow to keep score, and let this steady, gracious love mark the family of God.
