Bible verse

1 John 1:9

1 John 1:9

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

1 John 1:9 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Guilt tempts us to hide, but God invites us to come clean. When we honestly admit our sin to Him, He does not shame us; He forgives. He is faithful and just to pardon, because Jesus already paid the full price on the cross. This means forgiveness is not God overlooking wrong but Christ having borne it. So there is no need to bury your failures or perform to earn grace. Bring them into the light, trust the cleansing blood of Jesus, and receive the fresh start He freely gives.
