A Prayer When You Do Not Know What to Do
Some decisions keep you up at night. You have made the lists, weighed the options, asked the people you trust, and still the way forward will not come clear. Father, I do not know what to do. I have gone over it and over it, and the way forward still is not clear, and I am afraid of choosing wrong. You say that if any of us lacks wisdom, we can ask You, and You give freely and without finding fault, so here I am, asking. Give me wisdom I do not have. Help me to acknowledge You in all my ways and to trust that You will direct my paths, even when I cannot see far ahead. Instruct me and teach me in the way I should go; guide me. Quiet the fear and the noise so I can hear You, and give me peace to confirm the right step and unrest to warn me from the wrong one. I do not need to see the whole road, just the next step. Lead me, Lord. In Jesus name, amen.

Jesus faced real decisions and agonizing crossroads; in the garden, on the night before the cross, He wrestled in prayer until sweat fell like blood, and He surrendered His will to the Father's. He knows what it is to stand before a hard choice and to seek the Father's way through it. He promised His followers the Holy Spirit to guide them into truth, so you are not left to figure life out on your own. The same Jesus who called ordinary people to follow Him, one step at a time, without showing them the whole road, is willing to lead you now. He is patient with your uncertainty. How do I know God's will when both choices seem good?

What if I am too afraid of making the wrong decision to choose at all?
