A Prayer for Healing
If your body is sick, or the report was frightening, or the pain has gone on so long you have almost stopped hoping, you do not need fancy words to come to God. You need to come. The Bible never treats sickness as proof that God has walked away, and it never shames the one who is suffering. It invites you to ask, plainly and honestly, for the thing you most want: to be well. Below is a prayer you can pray as your own, whether you can barely whisper it or need to say it through tears. God is not far off. He is near, and He cares about the body He made.
“Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”Jeremiah 17:14
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:”Psalm 103:2
“Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;”Psalm 103:3
“And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”James 5:15
A prayer you can pray
Father, You made this body and You know exactly what is wrong with it, better than any doctor and better than I do. I bring You my sickness, my fear, and my tiredness, and I ask You plainly: heal me. Restore what is broken. Give the doctors and nurses wisdom and skill, and let Your healing work through them and beyond them. Where healing comes slowly, give me patience and hope, and hold me steady on the days I want to give up. And whatever happens to my body, keep my soul close to You, because You are my life. Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
How to pray this
Pray this honestly, not perfectly. You can pray it out loud, or read it slowly, or make it your own words. Ask God directly for healing; He is not annoyed by a bold request, and Scripture is full of people who asked plainly to be made well. Notice what His own Word says over you. Jeremiah cried, Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed, and the Psalm remembers the God who healeth all thy diseases. James tells the sick to call for prayer, promising that the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. So do not carry this alone. Ask someone to pray with you, involve your doctors, and keep bringing your body honestly to the One who made it. Healing sometimes comes suddenly, sometimes slowly through ordinary care, and sometimes it waits for the world to come; in every case, God stays near.
The One who hears this prayer
When Jesus walked the earth, the sick were exactly the people He went toward, not away from. He touched what everyone else avoided and said to a frightened, suffering woman, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. He is the same today. Praying for healing is not shouting into an empty sky; it is speaking to the One who has authority over your body and love for your whole self. He does not always heal in the way or the timing we ask, but He never turns away from the one who comes. And He offers a healing deeper than any cure: Himself, and a life that sickness cannot finally touch.

Questions people ask
Will God definitely heal me if I have enough faith?
The Bible calls us to ask boldly for healing, and it also shows faithful people who suffered without being cured in this life, like Paul, whom God answered with My grace is sufficient for thee. So ask with confidence, but do not let anyone tell you that continued sickness proves you failed to believe. God is good and near whether the healing comes now, comes slowly, or waits for eternity. Faith is trusting Him, not manufacturing a feeling.
Is it okay to see doctors, or should I only pray?
See the doctors, and pray. God is not in competition with medicine; He often heals through the skill and care of others. Scripture pairs prayer with practical help, and asking for treatment is not a lack of faith. Bring your whole situation to God, follow good medical care, and let Him work through every means He has provided.
What if I have prayed for healing for a long time and nothing has changed?
That is a heavy place to be, and you are not alone in it or forgotten. Keep praying honestly, even angrily if that is where you are; God can hold it. Ask others to pray with you so the weight is shared. And hold on to this: His nearness does not depend on the timing of your answer. Many faithful people have found God most present in the waiting, not only in the cure.
