A Prayer for the World
To hold the whole world in your thoughts at once is almost too much: billions of lives, countless sorrows, wars and famines and quiet private griefs, and also weddings and newborns and small kindnesses, all happening at the same moment. It can leave you dizzy with both wonder and heaviness. Yet God holds the entire thing without strain, and He loves it with a love that has no edges. When you pray for the world, you are joining your small heart to His vast one, caring about a planet too big for you to carry but not too big for Him. Father, the world is so big and so broken and so beautiful, and I bring all of it to You tonight. You made it, and You love it more than I ever could.
