Who Was Noah?

In short

Noah was a righteous man who walked with God in a corrupt age. God warned him of a coming flood and told him to build an ark to save his family and the animals.

After the flood, God set a rainbow in the sky as the sign of His promise never again to destroy the earth by water, a covenant of mercy.

“These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.”

Why does Noah matter to Christians today?

Because the story of Noah is told to point to Christ and to teach us to love one another. Read it as part of the one story of Scripture, not as a stand-alone biography.

Pray this

Father, you are already present in Noah, before any of us arrive. We bring you Noah, Genesis. Teach us to love one another, as you have loved us. In the name of Jesus, amen.

Live this

Three small things you can do this week.

  1. Read the key passage, Genesis 6:9, aloud once today.
  2. Write one sentence about what Noah's story says about God, not only about Noah.
  3. Tell one person what you noticed, and ask what Bible story has stayed with them.

Where this fits in the walk with Christ

Christ meets people in a place, and then walks on with them. Here are doors that walk on.
