The Rich Man and Lazarus

A rich man feasts daily while a poor man, Lazarus, starves at his gate. Both die: Lazarus is carried to comfort, the rich man to torment. Now he begs for water and for a warning sent to his brothers, but it is too late.
What it means
How we treat the poor at our gate is not invisible to God. Jesus warns that a life of comfortable indifference has eternal weight, and that those who will not hear Scripture will not be persuaded even by a miracle. The time to see Lazarus is now.
