The Mustard Seed
The smallest beginning becomes a shelter for many. (Matthew 13:31-32, King James Version (public domain))
Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to a mustard seed, the tiniest of seeds, which grows into a tree large enough for the birds to nest in its branches.
What it means
God's Kingdom rarely arrives with spectacle. It begins small, hidden, almost unnoticed, and grows into something that shelters the world. Do not despise small beginnings, in the world or in your own heart.
