The Fruit of the Spirit: Joy

Galatians 5:22 · King James Version (public domain)

Joy is deeper than happiness, a gladness rooted in God rather than circumstances, so it can sing even in a prison cell. It is not manufactured by trying harder but received by staying near to Christ, in whose presence is fullness of joy. The Spirit grows a joy the world cannot give and cannot take away.

How it grows

Fruit is grown, not forced. It appears as we stay joined to Jesus like a branch to the vine. Read Galatians 5:22 on The Living Bread, ask Simon how to grow in joy, and ask the Spirit for it today. You are welcome exactly as you are.
