Bible verse

Romans 8:38

Romans 8:38

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,”

Romans 8:38 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Paul lists the great powers that frighten us, death, spiritual forces, the unknown future, and declares them all too weak to cut us off from God's love. He is persuaded, settled, sure. This certainty is not wishful thinking but rests on Christ, who died and rose to hold us fast. Whatever season threatens to unmoor you, the love that reached you in Jesus does not loosen its grip. You are held, and nothing can pry you loose.
