Bible verse

John 10:10

John 10:10

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

John 10:10 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

There is a thief whose whole aim is to rob, ruin, and destroy what God made good. Against him Jesus sets his own purpose: he came so we might truly live, and live to the full. This abundant life is not ease or wealth but the rich, unbreakable life of God given to his sheep. Christ lays down his own life to secure it, so that what the enemy meant to steal is returned to us pressed down and overflowing in him.
