Bible verse

1 Corinthians 15:57

1 Corinthians 15:57

“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Corinthians 15:57 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Death once held the final word over every human life, but God gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. The sting of sin and the grave has been drawn out by His death and resurrection. We do not achieve this triumph; we receive it as a gift. Because Jesus rose, all who belong to Him will rise too. When you grieve, or when your own mortality frightens you, hold to this. The battle you could never win has already been won, and Christ shares His victory with you.
