A Prayer for the Homeless
For someone without a home, the things most people never think about become daily battles: where to sleep safely, how to stay warm or dry, where to find a bathroom, whether the few belongings they have will still be there in the morning. Behind every person on the street is a story, an illness, a lost job, a family that fell apart, a system that failed. Father, I lift up those without a home tonight, and if that is me, I lift up myself. You see the ones sleeping in cold doorways, in cars, in shelters, or wherever they can. Watch over them. Keep them safe from harm and from the cold, and provide shelter, food, and warmth this very night. Draw near to the ones whose hearts are broken by how far they have fallen, and remind them they are not invisible to You. Send people who will look them in the eye and help with dignity, not disgust. Make me one of those people. Open doors to housing, healing, and hope, and let no one feel forgotten. You are the God who takes up the cause of the oppressed. Be near to them now.
