A Prayer for the Church Around the World
The church is far bigger than any one building, denomination, or country. At this very moment, believers are gathering in mega-churches and in living rooms, singing in a thousand languages, worshiping freely in some places and in secret under threat in others. It is a family scattered across the whole earth, beautiful and flawed, divided in a hundred ways yet somehow one. Praying for the global church means lifting up brothers and sisters you will never meet, the persecuted and the comfortable, the faithful and the failing, and asking God to make His people what He intends them to be. Father, I lift up Your church around the world, every gathering in every land, in cathedrals and in hidden rooms. Make us one, as You prayed we would be, so that the world would believe. Heal our divisions; let love be stronger than the labels that separate us. Strengthen the persecuted who worship at great cost; give them courage, protect them, and comfort those who suffer for Your name. Wake the sleeping and comfortable parts of us. Purify Your church where we have wandered, and make us a people who look like Jesus to a watching world. Provide for the poor congregations, humble the proud ones, and let the good news spread through all of us to the ends of the earth. Christ is the head of the body; let us follow You alone.
