A Prayer for the Brokenhearted
A broken heart is not a figure of speech; it is a physical, hollowing ache that can steal your appetite and your sleep and your ability to imagine feeling whole again. Maybe love ended. Maybe someone you trusted betrayed you. Maybe grief has cracked you open, or a hope you built your life around collapsed. Whatever broke your heart, the pain is real, and the well-meaning people telling you to move on do not understand that you cannot simply decide to stop hurting. A prayer you can pray
Father, my heart is broken and I do not know how to carry it. You see what happened, the loss, the betrayal, the hope that shattered. God does not stand over you with a stopwatch. Scripture shows Him drawing near to the brokenhearted and binding up wounds gently, which is slow work. Ignore the pressure to perform recovery. Give yourself, and let God give you, the time this actually takes.
How do I pray when I'm too hurt and angry to find any words?
You do not need polished words or even calm ones. Bring God the anger and the ache exactly as they are; the Psalms are full of raw, unfiltered grief, and God kept every one of them.
