A Prayer Before Church and Worship
In a few minutes you will walk into a service, and your heart may be in any number of places. Maybe you are eager, glad to be going into the house of the Lord. Father, before I walk into Your house, I want to prepare my heart. Too often I come distracted, my mind still on the week, going through the motions. Not today. Let me be glad to enter Your presence and to worship You in spirit and in truth. Quiet the noise inside me so I can actually hear. Meet me in the singing, the Scripture, the prayers, and the faces of Your people. Help me to come to give You worship, not just to get something for myself. Soften my heart toward the person beside me, and let me be a blessing to someone who is struggling. Where I am weary or doubting, refresh me. Where I am proud, humble me. Thank You for the gift of gathering with Your people; help me never to take it lightly. Meet us all today. In the name of Jesus, amen.

How do I stay focused instead of daydreaming through the service?
