Who Was King Solomon?
In short
Solomon, the son of David, became king of Israel and asked God not for riches but for wisdom to lead. God gave him wisdom beyond any other, and he built the great temple in Jerusalem.
He wrote much of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, though his later life is also a warning about drifting from the God who gave him everything.
“Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.”
