Is It a Sin to Be Depressed?
No, depression is not a sin, and it is not a sign of weak faith or a failure to trust God. Some of the most faithful people in Scripture walked through deep darkness. Depression is often a wound, sometimes physical and medical, and God does not condemn the hurting; He draws especially near to the brokenhearted. You are loved, and there is real help.

What Scripture actually says
The Bible is full of godly people in the depths. The psalmist cries, why art thou cast down, O my soul, and speaks to his own downcast heart. Elijah, after a great victory, sank so low he wanted to die, and God's response was not a rebuke but rest, food, and gentle presence. Jesus Himself was described as a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. And running through it all is the promise that the Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Scripture never treats sorrow as sin; it treats the sorrowing with tenderness.

Come as you are, in the dark, and let the One who is nigh to the brokenhearted carry you.
