Is It a Sin to Smoke Weed?

What Scripture actually says

But the Bible does urge believers to be sober and vigilant, warns against being brought under the power of anything, and calls Christians to submit to governing laws where they are just. Where marijuana is illegal, that adds a real dimension. Underneath it all, Scripture keeps returning to the same concern it has with alcohol: a clouded, checked-out mind is not the life God designed for you, because He made you to be present, awake, and free.
Grace, not a scorecard
So this is not a question that decides whether God loves you; He settled that at the cross. But it is worth being honest about your own heart. Occasional or medicinal use in a place where it is legal is a genuinely different question from getting high to numb out day after day. If it has become a way to escape your life, or something you cannot put down, that is a chain, not a verdict, and Jesus frees people from chains. There is grace here, and there is also an invitation to something better than being numb.
This is really about Jesus
People rarely reach for a high because life is full; they reach for it because something aches or bores or frightens them. Jesus meets exactly that. He offers a peace that does not require checking out and a joy that does not fade when the high does. He does not shame the ache; He came for it.
