God’s Promises for Protection

God promises to be a refuge and shield for His people, to keep you in His care, and to guard your life in His everlasting hands.

The Bible is full of God's promise to protect: He is a fortress, a shield, a shelter in the storm. This does not mean nothing hard will happen, but that nothing can snatch us from His hand.

God promises to be with us in danger, not always to remove the valley but to walk through it with us, and to guard our souls forever.

What God promises, in His own words

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”

Psalm 91:1-2 · King James Version (public domain)

“The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”

Psalm 121:7-8 · King James Version (public domain)

“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee.”

Isaiah 43:2 · King James Version (public domain)

“But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.”

2 Thessalonians 3:3 · King James Version (public domain)

How this points to Jesus

Jesus is the good shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep, and He promises that no one can pluck us out of His hand. In Him, God's promise of protection reaches all the way to eternity; even death cannot separate us from His keeping love.
