God’s Promises for Peace
God promises a peace beyond understanding, not the absence of trouble, but His presence and calm within it.
God promises to keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is fixed on Him. It is a peace He gives, not one we manufacture.
He promises that His peace will guard our hearts and minds as we bring Him our worries. It is the settled calm of being reconciled to God.
What God promises, in His own words
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Isaiah 26:3 · King James Version (public domain)
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
John 14:27 · King James Version (public domain)
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7 · King James Version (public domain)
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 · King James Version (public domain)
How this points to Jesus
Jesus is our peace, who made peace between us and God by the blood of His cross. Every promise of peace is yes in Him. When storms rage, He speaks calm, and His peace stands guard over all who trust Him.
