God’s Promises for Comfort
God promises to comfort His people in all their troubles, drawing near as a Father to the hurting and the afflicted.
God is called the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He promises to draw near to the brokenhearted and to console those who mourn.
He comforts us not only for our own sake but so that we can comfort others with the comfort we have received. No sorrow is beyond His tender care.

How this points to Jesus
Jesus sent the Holy Spirit as the Comforter to be with us forever, and He Himself is near to the brokenhearted. Every promise of comfort is yes in Christ, the man of sorrows who bore our grief. In Him, God draws close and wipes away our tears.
