God’s Promises for Temptation

God promises that no temptation is beyond escape: He is faithful, provides a way out, and gives strength to overcome.

God promises never to let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, and always to provide a way of escape.

He gives grace to the tempted and strength to stand. And when we fail, He promises mercy to those who turn back to Him.

What God promises, in His own words

“God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

1 Corinthians 10:13 · King James Version (public domain)

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life.”

James 1:12 · King James Version (public domain)

“For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.”

Hebrews 2:18 · King James Version (public domain)

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

James 4:7 · King James Version (public domain)

How this points to Jesus

Jesus was tempted in every way, yet without sin, so that He can help those who are tempted. Every promise of escape is yes in Him. When temptation presses in, we come boldly to Him and find grace to help in our time of need.
