God’s Promises for Anxiety
To the anxious, God promises His peace, His nearness, and His care: if you will bring Him your worries, He will carry them and guard your heart.
God does not promise a life without trouble, but He promises to meet you in it. He pledges a peace that surpasses understanding to everyone who hands Him their fears.
He promises to be near the anxious and to sustain those who cast their cares on Him. You do not have to hold it all together; He offers to hold you.
What God promises, in His own words
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 · King James Version (public domain)
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
1 Peter 5:7 · King James Version (public domain)
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee.”
Isaiah 41:10 · King James Version (public domain)
“Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
Psalm 55:22 · King James Version (public domain)
How this points to Jesus
Every promise of peace finds its yes in Jesus, the Prince of Peace. He carried our anxieties to the cross and rose to give us a peace the world cannot take away. In Him, God's promises to the anxious are not maybes but a certain yes.
