Bible verse

James 4:7

James 4:7

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

James 4:7 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

There is a battle for your heart, but the outcome is already settled in Christ. This verse gives the order of victory: first surrender to God, then stand against the enemy. When you belong to Jesus and yield to Him, the tempter loses his grip, and Scripture promises he will flee. You do not fight alone or from weakness; you fight from the finished work of the cross. Draw near to God, humble yourself under His care, and watch the darkness retreat before the Savior who has already won.
