Bible Verses for Farmers
You work with your hands, at the mercy of weather and season, planting in faith that a harvest will come. It is patient, humble, God-dependent work. These verses are for the farmer who labors long and trusts the God who gives the increase.
What God says over farmers
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
In due season you will reap if you do not lose heart.
“Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it. Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.”
God waters the earth and greatly enriches it; the increase is His.
“Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)”
He who supplies seed to the sower will multiply your sowing.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;”
There is a time to plant and a time to reap; you keep God's calendar.
“Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.”
Be patient like the farmer waiting for the precious fruit of the earth.
“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
It is the Lord who gives you power to prosper; remember Him.
“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
Seedtime and harvest shall not cease while the earth remains.
“Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”
Honor the Lord with your firstfruits, and your barns will be filled.
“He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;”
He causes the grass to grow and brings forth food from the earth.
“So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.”
You plant and water, but God gives the increase.
Where this all leads
Jesus loved to talk about seeds and soil, harvests and vines, because the field preaches the gospel. He is the true Sower and the Lord of the harvest, and He calls Himself the Vine you abide in. The One who feeds the whole earth feeds your soul, and the harvest He is most after is a life given back to Him.

A prayer for farmers
Lord, You give the growth I cannot. Bless the work of my hands, send the rain in season, and provide for my family through this land. Teach me patience and trust while I wait on You. Let my labor honor You, the Lord of every harvest. In Jesus name, amen.
