Bible Verses for Fathers
Fatherhood asks you to be strong and gentle, present and providing, a picture of a love your kids will carry for life. It is a weight you cannot always talk about. These verses are for the father who wants to lead well and needs the Father's help to do it.
What God says over fathers
“And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
Bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, not provoking them.
“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”
Teach God's words to your children diligently through the day.
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord; lead the way.
“Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.”
As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him.
“The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.”
The just walk in integrity; blessed are his children after him.
“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”
Watch, stand fast in the faith, be strong; quit yourselves like men.
“Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.”
Do not provoke your children, lest they be discouraged.
“And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.”
God turns the hearts of fathers to their children; ask Him to turn yours.
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
When providing wears you down, wait on the Lord for renewed strength.
Where this all leads
The best earthly father is a faint sketch of the perfect Father, who so loved the world that He gave His only Son. Whatever kind of father you had, you have a Father in heaven who will never fail you, and who will help you love your children well. Lead them by following Him.

Father, teach me to father like You: strong and tender, present and patient. Help me provide and protect without losing my own soul. Turn my heart fully to my children and point them to You. Where I have failed, give grace. Make me the dad they need. In Jesus name, amen.
