What God says over empty nesters
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
God still has thoughts of peace for you, a future and a hope.
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
Behold, He is doing a new thing; He makes a way in the wilderness.
“They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;”
You shall still bring forth fruit in this season, full of sap and green.

“And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.”
Even to old age God will carry you; He will not set you down.
“Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.”
Ask God to keep using you to show His strength to the next generation.
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
There is no greater joy than to see your children walking in truth.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Seek first His kingdom in this new season, and He supplies the rest.

The nest is emptier, but your calling is not finished. God is doing a new thing, and your years of experience and prayer are exactly what the next generation needs. Above all, this quieter season is an invitation to draw nearer to Jesus, who has been your constant through every stage and will carry you into all that is next.

Lord, the house is quiet and my heart is full and aching. Thank You for the years of raising them. Help me release my children into Your hands and trust You with them. Show me what this new season is for, and draw me closer to You in it. In Jesus name, amen.
