Bible Verses for a New Year
A new year is a clean page. Behind you are regrets and gratitude; ahead is the unknown. God is already there, and His mercies are new every morning of it. These verses are for stepping into a new year trusting the One who holds it.
What God says over a new year
“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
His mercies are new every morning; great is His faithfulness.
“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
Forget the former things; behold, He is doing a new thing.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
God knows the plans He has for you: peace, a future, and a hope.
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Forgetting what is behind, press toward the mark ahead.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
In Christ you are a new creation; old things are passed away.
“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”
You plan your way, but the Lord directs your steps.
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
Teach us to number our days and gain a heart of wisdom.
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Be strong and courageous; God is with you wherever this year leads.
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength this year.
“And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
The Lord goes before you; He will not fail or forsake you.

Lord, thank You for a new year and new mercies. I lay down last year's regrets and receive Your grace. Go before me into all that is ahead. Give me wisdom for my days and courage for the unknown. Draw me closer to You this year than ever. In Jesus name, amen.
