Moving stirs up more than boxes. There is excitement and grief, hope and uncertainty, as you leave the familiar and start again somewhere new. These verses are for a move, to bless the new home and to remember that your truest home is in God.
What God says over a move to a new home
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Be strong and courageous; God is with you wherever you go.
“Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.”
Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
“And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
The Lord goes before you; He will not fail or forsake you.
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.
“Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”
Through wisdom a house is built and filled with precious things.
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
He makes a way in the wilderness; He is doing a new thing.
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High abides under His shadow.
“Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished. And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.”
Settle in, seek the peace of the place, and God will bless you there.
“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
Jesus has prepared a home for you that no move can ever unsettle.
Where this all leads
Every earthly address is temporary. Jesus has gone to prepare a home for you that will never need packing up. Wherever you land, He is already there, and He can make any house a place where His peace dwells. Invite Him into your new home, and you carry your truest home with you.

Lord, thank You for this new home. Bless every room with Your peace and presence. Help us settle, make friends, and find our place here. Go before us into this new chapter, and let our home be one that serves You. You are our dwelling place. In Jesus name, amen.
