A diagnosis can change everything in a single sentence. Fear, questions, and grief crowd in, and the ground feels unsteady. These verses are for the day you or someone you love receives hard news, to anchor your heart in the God who holds your life.
What God says over a hard diagnosis
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;”
God is our refuge and strength; we will not fear though the earth shakes.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
His grace is sufficient; His strength is perfect in weakness.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
God works all things together for good to those who love Him.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Though you walk through the valley, He is with you; fear no evil.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
A day is coming when God wipes every tear and pain is no more.
Where this all leads
This news did not surprise God, and it has not moved you out of His hands. Jesus wept with the grieving and healed the sick, and He is with you in the fear and the fight. Whether He heals you now or carries you home, He has already conquered the worst that could happen. Your life, and your future, are safe with Him.

A prayer for a hard diagnosis
Lord, this news has shaken me. I bring You my fear and my questions. Be my refuge and my strength. Heal me if it is Your will, and hold me either way. Give me peace that makes no sense and hope that does not depend on the outcome. I trust You. In Jesus name, amen.
