Bible Verses for a Sleepless Night
It is late, the house is quiet, and your mind will not stop. Worries grow loud in the dark, and sleep will not come. These verses are for a sleepless night, to still the racing thoughts and hand your burdens to the God who never sleeps.
What God says over a sleepless night
“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.”
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for You alone make me dwell in safety.
“It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.”
He gives His beloved sleep; you do not have to earn your rest.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Come to Jesus, weary and heavy laden, and He will give you rest.
“He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.”
He who keeps you neither slumbers nor sleeps; He is awake with you.
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Be anxious for nothing; pray, and His peace will guard your heart.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
You keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on You.
“I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.”
I lay down and slept; I woke, for the Lord sustained me.
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Cast all your care on Him, for He cares for you.
“When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.”
When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.
“When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.”
When you lie down, you will not be afraid; your sleep shall be sweet.
Where this all leads
The God who holds the universe is awake right now, watching over you, so you can rest. Jesus slept through a storm because He trusted His Father completely. Hand Him every worry that is keeping you up. You do not have to solve it all tonight; you only have to trust the One who never sleeps and loves you dearly.

Lord, I cannot sleep, and my mind will not rest. I give You every worry keeping me awake. Quiet my thoughts and fill me with Your peace. Thank You that You are watching over me while I rest. Help me lie down in safety and give me sweet sleep. In Jesus name, amen.
