An interview can feel like your whole future hangs on the next thirty minutes. The nerves are real, but you do not walk in alone. These verses are for the moments before a job interview, to steady your nerves, ask for favor, and trust God with the door.
What God says over a job interview
“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Be anxious for nothing; pray, and receive peace that guards you.
“For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”
The Lord surrounds the righteous with favor as with a shield.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Trust Him with the outcome, and He will direct your steps.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Fear not; God will strengthen and help you as you go in.
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”
Whatever comes of this, do your part as unto the Lord.
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Be strong and courageous; the Lord is with you in the room.
“And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.”
Do not worry over what to say; the Spirit will help you.
“The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”
The heart of the one interviewing you is in the Lord's hand.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
God has good plans for you, whatever the answer today.
