Motherhood is love that shows up at 3am, packs the lunches, wipes the tears, and rarely gets a day off. It is joyful and it is depleting. These verses are for the mother who pours herself out and needs to be reminded that God sees, God provides, and God is proud of her.
What God says over mothers
“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.”
Her children rise up and call her blessed; your labor is seen and honored.
“He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.”
God shall supply all your need, for you and your children.
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Train up a child in the way they should go; your teaching endures.
“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”
Do not grow weary in doing good; the harvest of these years will come.
“When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.”
Come to Jesus, weary one, and He will give you rest.
Where this all leads
Jesus honored His own mother even from the cross, making sure she was cared for. He knows the sacrifice motherhood asks, and He calls it holy. When you are pouring out with nothing left, come to the One who fills the empty. Your worth is not in a spotless home but in being His, deeply loved and never overlooked.
Lord, thank You for my children and for the gift and weight of raising them. When I am tired, renew me. When I feel like I am failing, remind me of Your grace. Give me patience, wisdom, and joy. Fill me so I have something to give. Cover my children with Your love. In Jesus name, amen.
You were never meant to walk this alone
The family here will pray with you, and you can hear how Christ has met others in the same place.
Proverbs 31:28 ('her children arise up, and call her blessed') and Isaiah 40:11 (God gently leads those with young) are beloved by mothers, along with Isaiah 40:31 for strength.
What does the Bible say about mothers?
It honors them highly. Children are called a heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127:3), mothers are urged to teach faith to their children (Deuteronomy 6), and Proverbs 31 celebrates a mother's worth.
