1 Corinthians 3
Paul calls the Corinthians carnal for their jealousy and factions, still needing milk not meat. Paul and Apollos are only servants through whom they believed; one plants, another waters, but God gives the increase. What does it mean that Jesus Christ is the only foundation?
Paul says no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. Every believer and every ministry must be built upon Him, not upon human leaders or worldly wisdom. Whatever is built on Christ will be tested by fire on the day of judgment, and only what is genuine will endure. The image warns builders to take heed how they build, since the foundation itself is settled and unchangeable.
What does it mean that believers are the temple of God?
Paul tells the Corinthians they are God's temple and that the Spirit of God dwells in them, making them holy. This applies to the church as a community, not merely to individuals.
