The miracles of Jesus

The Miraculous Catch of Fish

After a night of nothing, nets breaking with fish. (Luke 5:1-11, King James Version (public domain))

Peter had fished all night and caught nothing. At Jesus’ word he let down the nets once more, and the catch was so great the nets began to break. Overwhelmed, Peter fell down, and Jesus said, from now on you will catch men.

What it reveals about Jesus

Jesus meets us in our empty, failed places and fills them beyond our nets’ capacity. The miracle drives Peter not to pride but to worship and a calling. What we cannot do all night, He can do with one word.
