Bible verse

Matthew 7:7

Matthew 7:7

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”

Matthew 7:7 (King James Version (public domain))

What it means

Jesus invites persistent, hopeful prayer: keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. Behind the promise stands a good Father who delights to give to his children, not a reluctant power we must wear down. This is not a formula for getting whatever we crave but an encouragement to bring our real needs to One who hears. He teaches us to pray as sons and daughters, confident that the door we knock on was opened to us by the cross of his own Son.
