The Beatitudes · Matthew 5

Blessed are they that mourn

“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”

Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount · King James Version (public domain)

What it means

Jesus blesses the grieving, those who feel the weight of loss and of sin. He does not rush us past our tears; He promises to meet us in them. The God who wept at a tomb comes near to comfort those who mourn.

Take it in
